How can I prevent manholes overlapping in the profile?

I work for a local government and we contract out most of our CAD work.  Our consultants switched to Civil 3D and it apparently cannot adhere to our standards for the profile views.  We currently have manholes that would overlap in the profile view drawn "offset" and labeled as such.  This allows for a much cleaner view when we get into intersections.  Since the switch to Civil 3d they are drawn over top of each other with just the centerline offset at the top of the profile grid.  So, my question is - is this true?  Is there any way to work around this and still maintain the pipe network (footages, connectivitly, etc)?

The only way I can think to do this would be to have the structure use a NoShow style (or utilize NoPlot layers) then manually draw the MH wherever you'd like to see it.

I don't have the drawings in CAD yet but here is a pdf.  You can see that it makes it very hard to see what pipe goes to what manhole without adding another sheet that shows it from a different angle.

Are all the manholes on the same alignment or are you displaying the intersection sewer line with manholes? Can you also show me a plan view image? Im trying to feature out why you would have manholes that close to each other.

The plan view was sheet 2 of that pdf.  We use one profile to show all the sewers, storm and sanitary.

Not quite sure why you'd want to show garbage in your profile, but if you want your consultant to do so have them create another alignment along the centerline of the pipes at the structures you want spread out. Then create a profile view for that new alignment. Then have the profile view of the correct stationing profile view, then stop it when you want the garbage profile view information to be shown, then have another profile view using the correct profile view again. Set the stationing of the new aligment to start at the correct stationing.

Not sure what you mean by "garbage".  We build storm sewer, sanitary sewers and water main at the same time.  Sometimes the manholes end up being put in around the same station but two different alignments ie: different sides of the street.  Instead of having two different profile sheets we always used one before.  Past drafting practice we would "offset for clarity" the overlapping structures. 

Thanks for the advice about the alignments!  I'll see if that will do what we want.
