Dynamic Block with Title Block and Attributes (Not Displaying)

Hi Everyone,

I'm at it again and of course...  having issues.

I've created a Dynamic Block with 5 visibility states.  Some of which have move parameters contained within them.  The visibility states work fine as far as merely cycling between them.  However, when I select two of them, some of my attributes don't appear.

Moreover, when I select "Lincoln County (Single Owner) and Lincoln County (Multiple Owners)" the top attributes don't display and populate when entering in values in the other attributes.

I read that sometimes copying attributes and renaming tags can be problematic, so I completely rebuilt my block from scratch with all new attributes.  Upon doing this, I created the "Lincoln County" blocks first and they worked perfectly.  No issues whatsoever.  They cycled fine and all attributes worked as intended.

Next, I added a couple more visibility states with a different title block.  That's when things started acting up.  Though, within itself (the new block) everything worked (and still does) fine.  But, the "Lincoln County" blocks all of a sudden stopped displaying a few of the attributes that worked fine previously.  More specifically, the attributes at the very top, named  "LINCOLN_TYPE_OF_SURVEY" & "LINCOLN_DESC_OF_SURVEY-1"

Some key things (I believe) that should be noted:

  • I've verified that all attributes in question are not invisible
  • All tags are named differently from block to block
  • Tags in "like-named" visibility states have same Tag names intentionally.  This way I can run a LISP that automatically copies values from one to all others with the same name.
  • I've reinserted the block approximately 423 times (kidding) to ensure its redefined.  Same results.
  • I've verified my visible status of each object from state to state and believe they're good to go.
  • Locked position is good to go, too.

I'm hoping this is a slight oversight and nothing too complex.  Perhaps, the whole "can't see the forest for the trees" saying applies?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks, everyone!

It appears to be working for me.

Are you confirming that the attributes have values?

My apologies! I just caught my mistake - its not the attributes at the top.  Its the attributes at the bottom-right (in the actual title block).  If you open the block in the editor, you'll see there are six additional attributes.  Those ones don't show up.  Its as if they're not even there.

Therefore, I cant edit them.  Sorry for the confusion.

I believe that your issue is from duplicate tag attributes. I see how this could be handy. Enter it once and it should populate in all attributes with the same tag name. I added another attribute with the tag LINCOLN_TYPE_OF_SURVEY and then the one at the top disappeared. I seems to me that you'd just be chasing the attributes around and the last one that you add, that has a duplicate definition, will be the one that shows up.

See note from help file:

Note: It is important to make sure that attribute tags have unique names. The Enhanced Attribute Editor will display any duplicate tags in red. Duplicate tags will cause problems when extracting data or if you use them in dynamic blocks.
