Exported model has no biped structure 3ds max

I created and exported a Character Generator model but the model has no biped or CAT structure in 3ds max 2023.

The "FbxToBiped.ms" script generated multiple error messages in the listener window, and the resulting  model has no bones. What am I doing wrong?

Just adding to the list of people noticing no skeleton in generated characters.  I get the same result whether generating 3DS Max FBX, or Generic FBX.  Autodesk, PLEASE HELP!

My current workaround is:

1) Generate and Download the character using Character Generator

2) Unzip the folder

3) Go to https://www.mixamo.com/

4) Upload the FBX character file and proceed through the rigging process

5) "Download" the character as FBX 7.4

6) Import into 3DS Max

7) Delete "Body" (the gray mesh)

8 ) Run AutoBiped.ms (Auto-Biped 2.3.1) to convert the bones to Biped

@jjb this is a very frustrating issue, but thank you so much for your workaround. It really saved me on a project I am working on!!

No I haven't found a solution. Sent ticket to Autodesk, they reviewed and said "yup, it's a problem", no idea if or when it will be fixed. End of conversation.

Thanks for the feedback.
Peace,
Dave

So glad to see this post... I have been having the same issue and it is affecting my workflow.  Thought I was doing something wrong as well. Need to skin and rig my created characters manually...Looking for an alternative to Character Generator. Hoping AutoDesk will resolve this issue soon! Anybody find similar products that I can use until they fix this?

I also see no armature or pose info in Blender on models I create now.  The models I made a couple of months ago are fine and the armatures import normally.  Importing the models I created today, instead of an armature I see 60 pieces of nothing called transformXX (1-60) that are apparently little perpendicular cross points between the model's feet.

I'm skeptical that it's a bug as they claim, and suspect that they're quietly clawing back functionality they they've suddenly deemed too valuable at the price point they've been providing it for.  Look for a "new" title this summer called Autodesk Generated Character Rig re-Installer that, for the low cost of $50/month, returns the functionality you used to get with your Character Generator subscription.
