The 2D model is either non-planar or is not on the z = 0 plane.

Hello. I am having this issue with CFD Simulation 2015. I am unable to use most geometries, this is the error showing up. I just dont understand what it means, or why some models work and others dont. I even drew a simple box in Rhino 5 and it's the same error. What does it mean, for a 3D model, that it's 2D geometry should be planar and and it's z coordinate should be 0? How can z be 0 on a 3D model? I have some examples below:

Geometries that worked:
This an old model, done by me in 2013. It's been modeled in AutoCAD, exported in Rhino and saved as a 3dm file.

This is a simple cylinder, also modeled in Rhino, as it is my primary 3D modeling software. I'm noticing two axes systems in the picture.

And this one, also modeled in Rhino.

But then, this is a box with two holes, also made in Rhino.

And this is the error screen:

Both of these return the error.

I suspect that there are no 3D parts within the model, is this a solid or just surfaces?

Thanks,

Jon

You are right, I see it now, there are only surfaces in the models that do not work. I tried it right now with a box and a cylinder and it worked. Thank you, sorry for the trouble, I am new to the software and I might return with more questions.

No problem 🙂
