Newbie, stuck on solver has exited unexpectedly

Hello,

I’m totally new to CFM and Autodesk.

I was trying to do some air flow test on a model I have with/without heat on it.

I’ve looked at this movie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nS9SfKLdkw4 to have some basic knowledge about the program.

I’ve imported my model, which has 4 parts, and found out 5 parts in the list??!

Then I set the materials as aluminum and air and added velocity in to one side of the air box & pressure 0 to the opposite.

When I run the solve I keep getting the error: “The analysis has stopped because the solver has exited unexpectedly”

I have no idea what’s the problem or how to find and fix it.

Any help will be very welcome.

I found the .cfz file, but It does not allows me to attach it?!

I get "The attachment's cfd3_support.cfz content type (application/octet-stream) does not match its file extension and has been removed."

how can I post the file? (even trying to change the file type from .cfz to .txt did not helped)

I have had the same issue before. First thing to look at is interference.

Did you check if you have any interference between solids in your model?

the solids are touching each other but there is no intersection.

I ran your model in CFD 2019.1. No problem, it solved, although you have interference.

In this case I would model the air as a surface part and not as a solid. CFD will void fill the "air" around your model. Or use the Geomery Tools > External volume instead.

What version of CFD are you running? Start & Learn tab > About.

1. Which operating system are you using?
2. Where are your files saved? Are they synced to dropbox (or something similar)?
3. Or are you using a VPN?

I’ve removed the air box from the model and added the external volume but still the same error.

My system is windows 10 (latest), Autodesk CDF 2019 (Free trial), version 19.0 (I downloaded it some days ago).

Files saved on local SSD. No VPN

I see no way to update the software.

My interface looks different then you have.

In the material list I see “4 Volume”, but I don’t see it in the 3D view. Setting it to air or suppressing it does not help the solver.

The interference check was done in Autodesk Inventor. You could also do this in Fusion 360.

The second cfz file you uploaded solves without any problems.

From the screenshot it looks like a solver problem or something. The model does mesh.

Apparently the biggest problem was my firewall....

I have everything installed and running loacally on my PC but still I had to open port 5041 to allow the solver to run.

The updates of the program to 19.1 where found inside the Autodesk Desktop App
