@BIM360-ICE thanks for that question.

When creating a package, you select specific Sets and Models which you want to share with the other teams. In addition you may specify a speeking title and also add a specific description to for the package or its content when you share the package.

This has to be repeated everytime you create a new package. In some cases you may share the same Sets and add the same or similar description and title for that package.

For that use case the Re-Use comes in very handy, where a new package to share is created. The same title (with "-Copy" appended) will be applied as also the same description. Also the previous selected Sets remains selected. You can then tweak the Set selection as also the title and description before you share this new package.

I hope this answers your question.

Thanks

Dear @martyn.messerli
Before I thought same as you. But in actually quite different. When I create a new set in Revit and synch to central and update latest. So after that When I use an old package and Re-use, it is same as new set, no re-use old package as I thought. And when I create new package, they are same.

So it makes me confused with it.
Please see Video for more clearly and hope it useful for you and all.

And there is another issue, that is the federated model, can not publish the federated model to BIM 360, although they appeared in revit model.
So please advice and help me in these issues.

Thanks

@BIM360-ICE Thanks for taking your the time to create that video, it was very helpful to understand the problem.

Let me recap what I have seen:

  1. In the past you have created a package with a specific set: Set 1
  2. In the meantime you have created and shared additinal packages where
    1. You have disabled Set 1
    2. Created new Sets : Set 2, Set 3
    3. Finally kept Set 3
  3. Your latest WIP version now contains a only Set 3

What you now are trying to achive is to create a new packege from an older version where you want to share Set 1 again.

Unfortunately this cannot work:

  1. The Set 1 and the selected views are not available/generated in the WIP data
  2. If they are available they are part of a different set

When you look at the package created using "Reused", you can see that the title and the description are the same as for the original selected package (Reused). But we can only share sets which are available in WIP and since only Set 3 was selected to publish for this set, only this data is available for the package. This is what you can see when you edit the package, only the latest Published Sets are available but not the sets from previous versions of that model.

To achive the desired behavior you have to publish a version with the sets you want to re-share with other teams so you can add them to the package.

Did I understood your problem correctly? Does this answer your question?

Thanks

-Martyn

Edit: Reuse does only apply the selection from the selected package if possible as also title and desciription.

@BIM360-ICE Related to the "federated model" (not absolutly clear about this term). Can you have a look to the forum post about linking other models. This should give you an inside on linking different models in Revit in context of Design Collaboration.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/bim-360-design-collaboration/linking-cloud-workshared-models-in-bim-3...

I hope this shold also bring some light into this question?

@martyn.messerli About the federated model
Here is a example for demo with my issue, hope it useful for you

When link Interior to Arch, we can see InteriorInterior to Arch.jpg

When link Interior + Arch to MEPInterior n Arch to MEP.jpg

We only see MEP and Arch, and Interior is not visible Missing Interior.jpg

@BIM360-ICE, to my knowledge these nested link should be supported so long as `Arch.rvt` has a link to `Interior.rvt` with an `Attach` link type. Could you verify that please?

Best,

Markus

Hi @BIM360-ICE

Could you verify two things please:

  • all 3 models have been published through Revit Cloud Worksharing?
  • the project model does show the interior or not?

Thanks in advance,

Markus
