Markup change private to publish

Hello,

The user is Project Engineer and has Document Management active. But he can not change his own markup from private to publish... I checked the permissions and this is set to View (that should be enough to create markups, and in fact I think shoud be enough to publish these markups???)

I do not want to set his permissons to Edit for this role...

Greetings, Renzo

Hi @Renzo_van_Rijswijk

Thanks for participating in the community.

As it stands, users with the 'View only' permission are unable to publish markups. Please see the article here While this article does not provide any additional information containing any plans of fixing this limitation I want to assure you our development team is aware of this and looking into enhancing the flexibility of this function later this year.

Hi,

The suggested timeline for this issue is concerning.

This should be a quick fix, simply allow the 'View' setting to publish markups?

We are finding the requirement to set permissions to 'Edit' to be very problematic, as this also means the user has access to edit/upload documents, which interferes with our QA / QC procedures and has already resulted in other files being deleted/renamed etc which can not be allowed to happen.

Please fix sooner

I would add, that having a simple toggle setting to let the user make their markups to be published or private (globaly not just one time) would be a huge time saver.  If a user has to review a 250 page set and every markup is set to private, and you can assume an average of 3 markups per page, that's 750 times that they have to stop to make markups published, per review.

This is really going to scupper co-ordination since only the uploader/ editor can publish markups - they need to see the project team markups (who are view/ download users), not add any markups of their own.

I've added a link to an Idea which would resolve this problem and is currently gathering support. Please add your votes and comments:

Dear Autodesk - can we get an update on this.

Can permissions be changed.

Adding a comment on this to hopefully bring it back to attention....

I would also like to ask if it is possible to disable the private comment/mark-up option, at least on my own account.  I have no situation where I would ever want to leave a comment private/mark-up.  Most of the time my mark-ups are automatically published, however occassionally they are private.  I occassionally fail to confirm that the mark-ups are actually published, which has led to obvious coordination issues.  Shame on me I know, but if I can somehow disable the private mark-ups/comments option that would be a huge help, as it is not a function I have the intention to ever use.
