Linked CAD drawings to BIM 360

Hi,

what is the proper procedure for uploading our DWG files into BIM 360?

Link into our Revit as linked CAD then publish as a sheet?

Upload our CAD file with Titleblock into a subfolder we created in the BIM 360?

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for participating in our Community! You can upload DWG directly to BIM 360 Docs project or if DWG has xref's then you can use "Linked Files" option to upload them. Please review "To Upload and Publish Documents" to learn more about this process. Let me know if this helps.

Thank you and have a great day!

I have this error when I reload or reload from via manage links. The problem here, the linked cad was first successfully linked to Revit, until revisions have come. We need to re-upload it via Bim 360 docs. I have been stuck around for doing this.

@anil_mistry   If I use the  upload links files  of my DWGs which has xrefs attached, I thought BIM 360 would automatically create a folder for the xrefs?  I am not seeing this happen.   Why?  Would it be better to upload each of my DWGs, then link them in navigating through the Desktop Connector?  I am  unloading the files to Project Files as that is where all the work in progress is happening.

I know BIM 360 is not designed for CAD work but when necessary I am trying to figure out the best workflow for the teams that are using both Revit and AutoCAD.

Please advise on this scenrio:

User1 one opens drawing ABC.dwg @ 9 am,  saves/uploads to BIM 360

Opens ABC.dwg through desktop connector, locks file in BIM 360.. continues to make edits and saves

BIM 360 will automatically create new version with each DWG save and identify user.

User 1 closes ABC.dwg  and unlocks ABC.dwg

User 2 opens ABC.dwg... locks, edit, saves..etc.... unlock

User 1 needs to edit ABC.dwg again.

User 1 must - clear local cache of ABC.dwg, only then will User 1 open ABC.dwg with the edits made by User 2.

Is this the workflow when using DWG files in BIM360?
