Hey Docs Team!
I've been playing around with the trial version for a little bit and I couldn't help but notice some small things here and there. Below is a consolidated list of questions I had regarding the platform:
Questions:
1. Can I rearrange the meta data columns I see in my folders? I can't seem to move them around and I feel like I should be able to.
2. Can I import previously designed folder structures within my project or even across multiple projects? On larger projects, I have hundreds of folders, and it is tedious to do them one by one.
3. Can we create additional Roles? The ones now are limited and I would like to customize roles as we have some specific to our organization.
4. Can we copy permision sets to folders on the same hierarchal level? Tedious to set permissions for every single folder when many are identical.
5. Is there any way to upload multiple files in bulk seemlessly? Right now when I publish many pdfs at once I have to create individual title blocks for each and then publish them individually as well. This takes a long time and the average number of drawinsg on the projects I work on is like 3,000+.
6. I'm not sure I understand the point of the title block system, can someone explain to me its purpose? I can see a benefit if it automatically extracted information for thouands of documents but for one at a time it seems to be more of an inconvience than anything else.
7. Can I save folder hierarchy structures for each project? Like is there was to import folder structures from existing drives into the system so I don't have to recreate all of my folders and subfolders?
8. I read somewhere that you can approve drawings. How do I approve them? Additionally, can I send documents on some kind of predefined workflow process for approvals?
9. When you closeout the markup tool the only way to do it is to click on the x on the top right corner. This is confusing and made me feel like it didn’t save. A "Done" button would be more intuitive I think. (not really a question, but some advice.)
10. Is BIM 360 docs available outside the US, or can only be purchased in the US?
11. If available outside the US, are you planning on hosting data overseas? That might help with connection speeds in EMEA.
Final Question:
12. I remember watching the Project Alexandria marketing video and it made it seem like BIM 360 docs was going to replace our reliance on tools like Procore, Newforma, etc. So far, BIM 360 docs seems to be the Autodesk version of Dropbox with the addition of Adobe Reader. I'm not trying to be critical, but are there plans to incorporate other document/project management tools into the system, including but not limited to workflows, custom form creation, change manegement, budgeting, etc? If there are, do you have any kind of timeline?
I'd love to use an Autodesk product over some the stand alone EDMS/PMIS solutions I see in the market, but as of now I can't see myself replacing my current tools with BIM 360 Docs if it doesn't add more functionality.
Just my two cents. Overall, I love the interface, keep up the good work!

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback and the list of questions and product enhancement requests.
Questions 1-4 and 7 are enhancement requests that we are considering.
Questions 5 and 6 are related to the Title Block feature. The recommended workflow is to upload a multi-sheet PDF (we separate out the sheets and process them for viewing) instead of uploading individual PDF sheets. The user experience is currently optimized for that workflow. We do understand that our customers may have individual sheets, and are considering improvements to address this.
Question 8 is related to the "approval" process. Today you can use the custom attribute feature to track the status. Regarding workflow: BIM 360 Docs has an Issue Management workflow today, and we are considering workflow enhancements for future releases.
Question 9 is about the markup UX. We have made many enhancements to the markup feature over the past few months (see release notes). Please let us know if you have further feedback on the markup feature.
Questions 10 and 11 are about product availability. Docs is available to customers outside the US. Today, Docs data is managed in North America.
If you have any other questions or comments, please let us know.
Best Regards,
Joan Allen
Sr. Product Manager, BIM 360 Docs
