BIM 360 & Civil 3D - Files not automatically locking

Hi, 

We are working on a project where users are working on a series of files (drawing sheets with multiple references / dxrefs) and are experiencing intermittent issues where files are not locking when we are opening them through the desktop connector app, which results in multiple users being able to think they are editing the same file, and ultimately we lose one of the users edits. 

We have not been able to establish the route cause of the issue, but does anyone have a set of tips that can make this process seamless? 

We are using Civil 3D 2020 & Desktop Connector V16

I have not seen this issue, but the reverse where files don't get unlocked.

You could try locking through the web app?

One thing to check is .BAK files.  They seem to cause issues.  Make sure to have users turn them off.  They are not needed in Docs as the previous version is already there.
