What is needed to make extern software compatible?

Hi everyone,

I am new to Autodesk and try to make it possible to include acoustic aspects into BIM data. I hope this question is not at the wrong place here and not based on wrong guesses..

What is needed to make extern software compatible?
I have software for calculating acoustic aspects in architecture and building construction. Until now, this software doesn't return IFC data. So, that will be the first step to solve.

But, is it than possible to import IFC data from a foreign software, which is not connected to Autodesks products? Is there anything needed to import external IFC data to BIM clouds?
I am aware about the lack of information, it might implicates. Still, our software has to be "BIM-able" for several different products of Autodesk and others, since our partners don't use all the same BIM -products/ -suppliers but want to use our software as well.

Do you have any hints or have you had such a problem yet?

Hi @juliette.naumann ,

Autodesk Construction Cloud does support IFC files, but I believe there are some limitations on the type. I have just tried looking to any information, but I cannot find anything right now other than. Under model coordination

"tracked IFC files exported from AutoCAD (architecture, MEP and Civil 3D 2018 and onwards), ARCHICAD, Revit, MagiCAD for Revit, Tekla Structures, Siemens NX and Vectorworks are supported for coordination and clash detection"

When you say import to BIM clouds do you mean BIM 360 or are you talking about the Autodesk Construction Cloud? Because BIM 360 is its own separate product.

You talk about BIM data what do you actually mean by BIM data?

The software you are using what is it and what formats does it save to and export to?

What are you trying to do with the fields when you bring them into the cloud. View them, link to other applications, share with another member?
