Viewing past document/sheet versions

Is it possible to view past versions of documents/sheets? I want to view, not compare between versions.

In BIM 360 Team it is pretty straight forward to do so using the version button and can switch between quickly.

Hi Chad,

Thank you for posting to the BIM 360 Docs forum.  Today in Docs, you can restore a document to a previous version to view older documents.  The ability view all previous versions of a document will be added in a future release.

One way to view the entire sheet without making the old version current it to run a sheet compare and use the slider bar. Move the slider all the way to one side so that the old version is the only one that you see. This will not show issues or markups that were made, but its a quick way to view it before you make it the most current version.

You can quickly toggle between versions on the iPad app. Choose a file that has multiple versions and at the top you will be able to select from any of the versions. I wish you could do this on the web as well.

I've been thinking about this some more and you know what needs to happen, is the compare function needs to be moved from the files/folder UI and into the History list of an open sheet.

The main problem with the review process of issues and markups at the moment is that there is no compare functionality. While looking at a markup I readily have no context of the previous sheet information, such as in the below example.

But if the History list had the ability to 'overlay' a past version just like the current compare method, this would be a much more efficient workflow.

Here's my mockup. The eye icons are to toggle on/off sheets, but expected that only two at a time would be on at any given time.

I like your suggestion Chad! It makes a lot of sense to me.

I'll discuss it with the team to see what can be done to improve that workflow. As mentioned above, we fully agree it should be easier to view past versions easily and it's already part of our plans.

Thanks,

Is it possible that we cannot view older versions in BIM 360 Document Management, on the apps? Will it be available soon? Sheet comparison too.

This is a great idea!

@ilai_rotbaein @joan_allen can you please advise if the relocating of the compare tool to the History tab has been explored since? I personally feel that this would be a great improvement.

Thanks
