Viewing linked models in web viewer issue

We are setting up our BIM360 workflow and we are having some issues with linked models. Main issue is that we can't see linked other design disciplines models in our document management model viewer. In Revit these linked models do work fine, but when main model is published into BIM360, links won't show up in 3D and in 2D.

In one case we would like to link models from other BIM360 project (arch and str enviroment) to our own BIM360 project (closed MEP enviroment). Linkin works fine in Revit with desktop connector, but the end result is the same in our own project. Is it even possible to view these kind of links in our own BIM360 web viewer in this case?

If it's impossible to use that kind of workflow, we can download other models (RVT / IFC) manually and place them as refs in our own project folders and link from there. But we have tried also that and it also gives no result in web viewer. Models show up again fine in Revit, but when published, nothing. Also we have tried with uploading linked files function, but the end result seems to be the same.

Only linked models we can see in the web viewer are our own models that have been published there. These seem to work fine. Is it so that we need to publish the models that we are linking to see those in web viewer?

Bit more investigation revealed that the reference RVT-files are not showing up in design collaboration Architectural team that we have created. This seems to be the problem, as we can't use them as references if we have to open them an publish ourselves them to cloud. No matter how you upload the files (upload or upload linked files), they won't show up in collaboration.

Is there any other method of doing this or should we use IFC-files and ditch this idea of using native RVT-files?

One more update and question about this. Got my external files working by opening it in Revit and saving as cloud model. This way the model appears in desired folder and in Design Collaboration. Now the question is, how do I update that file when we receive a new version of this native RVT-file? Ideal situation would be that we just drag and drop these new versions, but is it possible to update file this way once it is saved as cloud model?

If you have the Autodesk Desktop Connector installed, you will be able to link to non-BIM360 Design Revit models (models that are just uploaded to BIM360 Docs in the Project Files area).  This would allow you to use BIM360 Design internally for your team, and allow your outside consultants to only have a BIM360 Docs license and upload files for file sharing, much like Dropbox or Box.  However, you would not be able to view a consolidated model of all links this way unfortunately.
