Upload linked Revit files in ACC Docs

I am using Revit 2022.

I have a Revit masterplan with Civil 3D terrain and a second Revit file with the architecture.

Linking both locally is not problem.

We switched from BIM 360 to ACC

In BIM 360 you had the option to UPLOAD FILES or UPLOAD LINKED FILES

IN ACC DOCS you only have the option to UPLOAD FILES.

I had a look at a solution via COLLABORATE but this is in my opinion too complicated.

Is there no more easy way, like previously in BIM 360?

Hi there,

Unfortunately nobody helped me up to now. Where are the ACC experts?

Three screenshots are included to visualize my problem.

In a couple of weeks I have 35-40 students, who need to upload their linked Revit models on ACC. Last year with BIM 360 it was no problem. We used the button upload linked files ... .The models will be evaluated on ACC. So the architecture has to be part of the masterplan model.

The student are Revit beginners. To explain the whole topic COLLABORATE to beginners only because they need to upload two linked files on ACC, seems to me a bit too much.

It was much more easy in BIM 360 !!!

If I would have known, we would have not switched to ACC.

hi,

not sure if i understand, but if you want to see a new linked file in your master file, you could create a new central file from the wanted link, on ACC, then linked it to your master file.  that should do what you are looking for i guest.

hope that could help

"if you want to see a new linked file in your master file" ... this did not work with me or I did not understand your workflow. Could you please be more specific?

I just want to upload to the ACC cloud a Revit Masterplan and a Revit Architecture project, which are linked locally. On my local drive the architecture is displayed in the masterplan ... standard procedure.

In BIM 360 I was able to choose the the main file and the linked file. After uploading I clicked on the masterplan and both data (masterplan and the linked architecture project) were displayed.

In ACC how shall I do it?

Step one: Upload masterplan. Step two: upload architecture. Step three: ???

step 3 : open the master file and add link to the architecture (the one on ACC not your local)

step4 : make sure your default 3d view has all the elements you want to show and go to publish setting to enable the view to be publish.

step 5: publish the master to ACC.

step 6 : go back to ACC. open the master, the view should be there with the link.

Step 1 and 2 are done.

Step 3:
I open Revit, I go to Autodesk Docs (left side in Revit homes).
My ACC project is displayed, I go to the subfolder with the uploaded masterplan and architecture model.
I have all the rights in ACC but both Revit files are not displayed.

I open Revit and I go to OPEN
I can open the masterplan on ACC and can link the ACC architecture model.
I safe it.

Step 4:
Everything is visible in the default 3D view.

Step 5:
Where do I publish the masterplan?

Peter,

this is strange.. are your files have been saved on ACC in "collaboration mode" or just uploaded on the platform?

plus, you should open the cloud files, if so.

I try to keep it as close to BIM 360 as possible.

These were files where I experimented with COLLABORATE.

that is funny, i cannot send more message on this forum...

well, i did create 2 new files on your folder. all the others were NOT central model collaboration.

1 -create cloud models

2-link the arch (cloud model) to the master (also cloud)

i also publish it. you should see the default 3d view in masterplan_cloud with the architecture Link.

3-set the publish view

4-publish

from now, you should always open the file from Revit through ACC.

let me know if its working.

So, it seems that in ACC I can not upload the two Revit files, like in BIM 360
I have to use COLLABORATE, etc.

I will experiment with it and if my workflow functions I let you know.

Thanks a lot!

Greetings from Switzerland.

Accepted solution

Here is the soltuion:

First unlearn how you did it in BIM 360 ...,  it does not work like that in ACC.

Masterplan Model:

In Revit, open the model.

Click Collaborate tab, Manage Collaboration panel, Collaborate.

If prompted, sign into your Autodesk account.

In the Collaborate dialog, select In the cloud. Click OK. Select the desired project folder. In the dialog, click Initiate. Click Close to continue.

Architecture Model (local linked model):

In Revit, open the model.

Click Collaborate tab, Manage Collaboration panel, Collaborate.

If prompted, sign into your Autodesk account.

In the Collaborate dialog, select In the cloud. Click OK. Select the desired project folder. In the dialog, click Initiate. Click Close to continue.

Architecture Model linked to Masterplan Model in ACC:

Open the host model (workshared cloud model)

Click Manage tab, Manage Project panel, Manage Links.

On the Revit tab of the Manage Links dialog do the following:

Select a linked model in the cloud and click Reload From. Notice that the file browser opens by default to the cloud project location.

Select the name of the linked file, and click Open. The cloud version of the link is cached on your local computer and loaded. Note that local links won't be visible when published. They must first be migrated from local links to a cloud model link. Click OK to close the Manage Links dialog.

Sheets:

Make A0 Revit Sheets with different Floor Plans, Sections and 3D Views. The sheets show up in ACC.

Publish:

COLLABORATE, MANAGE MODELS, MANAGE CLOUD MODELS, PUBLISH SETTINGS, LATEST VERSION PUBLISHED, the Icon has a green checkmark.

COLLABORATE, SYNCHRONIZE WITH THE CENTRAL, SYNCHRONIZE NOW.

If it is not yet linked, go back to:COLLABORATE, MANAGE MODELS, MANAGE CLOUD MODELS, click on the icon PUBLISH LATEST

An alternative we use now: all data in one model 🙂
