If Docs is to be used as a default document management tool which will eventually replace Buzzsaw , very soon, one needs to find a better way of handling document revisions. Simple versioning is not an option, but allowing to associate meta data with extracted sheets from both Revit and PDFs is a must. Now, this association can not resort to a solution that deals with sheets individually, but a user should either have the ability to select multiple documents and associate custom field values with the entire selection, or even better, during the import it would be nice to cross reference sheet schedule with sheet numbers and populate those Revision fields automatically during the import.

Once this system is put in place, the simple reporting and association with a possible distribution list wold be desirable. Also one should be able to produce comparison report between two versions of the same set by doing batch procession of selected sheets. VICO Office does this now and I can't see a good excuse why Docs are not doing it.

Time is of essence, and we do not have the luxury of infinity on our projects. ADSK development team should feel the same burn we do when trying to explain all of the deficiencies we encounter in BIM 360 products.

Is there an ETA on the update to address the versioning work flow for BIM360Docs? Our issue is that the Architect has changed the Title of a Sheet and not the Sheet number (for example - C-5 remained the same but title changed from "Civil Layout" to "Erosion Control"). We now have two sheets labeled C-5 but need only the most recent document to replace the old as a part slipsheeting/ batch revision upload.

There needs to a be a way to force the stack / version of sheets out there .... this happens a lot.  We have designers who have mis-spellings in their title block and those get fixed but it creates a huge problem the way the versions is currently deployed.  Other similar software allows you to pick / change where a sheet is stacked / versioned.

Hi David and Ashley,

Thanks for the feedback.  We are currently working on an initiative to improve the upload / OCR experience and one of the things we intend to do is version match on the sheet number only vs. "sheet number + sheet title" as we do today.  This should address the specific use cases that you are sharing.

Best Regards,

Joan Allen
