NWD Viewing in BIM 360 have different Appearence then the NWD viewing in Navisworks

I have a Nwf file which I publish every day as nwd to BIM Collobarate. Every time I look at the NWD on BIM360 it looks different. It's completely arbitrary in my opinion.
In Navisworks I use the Appearance profiler and make cross-sections. But every view I update keeps the cross section and hidden elements. Is this a bug or is it not supported?

Hi @gertjan.vandegraafSW2K6 ,

Appearance overrides, such as object visibility or color-coding, are currently not supported in BIM 360. Only the camera state and section planes are available for Viewpoints created in Navisworks.

Best Regards,
Doreen

Hi,

Last week (March 2) I could publish a NWD to BIM360 with the same Appearence Profile as in Navisworks (colored by discipline incl. some transparent parts), so it seems that BIM360 has at least some support of Appearence overrides. It looked good!

But today (after some added viewpoint) the colors in the published NWD has been reset.

Could you please guide us in what can affect the appearence overrides in BIM360?

Short step-by-step:

1. Only keep views with the same appearence profile.

2. Apply colors by search sets i Appearence Profiler.

3. Save at least one viewpoint with the option for Save Attributes for "Override Appearence".

4. Save the NWF-file.

5. Publish the NWD-file to BIM360.

I've done these steps several times with different results.

I can confirm that the NWD with correct appearance profile on BIM 360 actually had two viewpoint with different appearence overrides saved, but one was used for all views. It seems logic that it would be the last created/updated that would be used but no, I can't figure out how BIM 360 pick which appearance setting to use.

Sorry for posting multiple answers, still exploring all the options...

I managed to push the appearance profile to BIM360 by first Publish the model locally. In the NWF in Navisworks it open up a kind of default view without appearance overrides. I ran again the Appearance Profiler and re-Published with the default view still active. It worked! One step forward!

Hello Doreen,

In our company BIM360 plays a key role for our BIM projects.

Unfortunately the fact that you cannot see the Appearence overrides of a NWD file saved is an impotant fail from Autodesk.

This "expected" function would facilitate to create custom  3D views from the Office that could be easily consulted from the Construction Site.

Please, could you indicate us what is the alternative to visualize saved Viewpoints of a NWD file (keeping appearence overrides) from the construction site (Tablet or mobile device, not Navisworks Desktop App)

Thanks in advance.
