Model Coordination clash matrix: Different clash counts for identical clash tests

Hello All,

Wondering if anyone can explain to me why the active clash counts in BIM 360 model coordination are not consistent between identical clash tests? For example: "Pipes vs Ducts" = X and "Ducts vs Pipes" = Y

I've attached a screen grab for reference... thanks!

The number refers to the quantity of clashing elements found in the primary model (i.e. the left column).

Here's a test you can do.

  1. Find a matching set of clashes with a very low clash count, like the bottom-right two cells in your screenshot.
  2. Take note of the clash count in those cells.
  3. Then click on one of those cells, and when it loads, manually count the number of clash results.
  4. With the clash results still open, on the results panel change the Primary model to the other model.
  5. Then manually count the number of clashes.

Your two manual counts should match the values shown on the cells in the matrix.
