Linking Navis NWC to Revit through Desktop Connector

We link Navis NWC Coordination Models from other trades into our Revit models for coordination purposes as we are modeling our systems.  We would like to host those files in BIM 360.  We are able to link the files into our models, but the path from the Desktop Connector points them to our C:\Users\ folder and not to Autodesk Docs:// location.

We have multiple people working in the same model and this does not work for us.  to make it work, we are hosting the NWCs on our local server.  This defeats the purpose of using BIM 360 to host our files and to use the Model Coordination module with these files.  Is there a way to point the Navis files to Autodesk Docs:// instead of our

C:\Users\ folder on our PCs?

@CoopDYNA ,

I know it is not the answer your looking for but I came across this article on the Autodesk Knowledge Network.

"Cannot open coordination model" when linking or reloading a coordination model from BIM 360 with De...

At present this function is not supported but there are was around this.  If you look at the BIM 360 ideas forum someone has already posted this Add support for NWC Coordination Models in Revit via BIM 360 Desktop Connector as an idea and there is a link to a previous post how to get around it.

So I can only suggest we all vote for this function to be included ASAP.

Mapping the Desktop to a common named folder seems like it would fix the problem  I will try that.

I am very surprised (not really....) that Autodesk has not given Desktop Connector this ability.  It should support linking to any file that can be linked into Revit.  I gave the Idea my vote...

Thanks @gareth.spencer1!

FINALLY!

You can now change your Desktop Connector Workspace to a common drive.

We have pointed the Workspace to the D:\ drive on our workstations and can now insert Coordination Model NWC/NWD files to ACC without conflicting paths.

This only solves half of the puzzle.  Now, they need to get the NWD and NWC Coordination Models to autosync and workshare like DWG and RVT links do when hosted from Docs...  Desktop Connector should treat NWC & NWD Coordination Models like DWG and RVT links. - Autodesk Comm...

So the newest build of the desktop connector allows you to change the drive location.  We are testing that out with a different workflow of having the NWCs on ACC Docs (BIM 360) and appending those NWCs into the NWF so the NWF can be shared.  With the same drive path amongst different users and updated links (C:), we are opening the NWF, that paths don't stay pathed correctly.

It would be nice to figure out if that is possible.
