how to remove models from the Model coordination list

Hello,

Question 1:

I like to know how to remove models from the Model coordination list that I don't need anymore.

See the picture below:

In my Document Management folder I have removed the old models for which I have uploaded a newer version but I still see the old ones in my Model Coordination list!

question 2:

As a BIM coordinator, I upload new versions of the Team-shared models to the 'Plans / Model coordination' folder. They have version numbers in their name. I download the latest shared Revit files and upload them to the Model coordination folder under Plans.

I do this after a Team shares the model via Design Coordination and The Team renames the model file in the Shared folder under Project Files.

The reason for that is that we need to see in Revit, when linking models from the Shared folder in BIM360, what version of the model we have linked.

Is that the right way or do I have to keep the same name of the Revit files?

Thank you so much for your feedback. I was able to duplicate your Question 1. For question 2 I believe you need to keep same file name but will check with product manager and see if he has any suggestions or feedback. Also, I will let PM know about question 1 and will give you an update soon.

Hi @robert.klempau,

I got an update from development team saying that at this time Model Coordination is still in Preview mode, we do not have an update event on deleting/moving models out of the BIM 360 Docs folder yet, so for now, the Model Coordination models list is only updated following another upload into the Docs folder.

If the you remove [from folder in Docs] the models you no longer require in model Coordination, and then upload another model [to Docs folder] that you DO want in Model Coordination, then this will update Model Coordination model list to include only those that are currently in the Docs folder.

If this isn’t working, then let me know and will have development team do further investigation.

Hello @anil_mistry,

I solved the problem but not the way you told me.

When I uploaded a new model version that was shared by one of the teams to the model coordination folder and deleted the old version from this folder, the old version was still visible in the Coordination space.

as you can see in the picture below.

So the solution was to deactivate the Coordination space.

 Then Create a new Coordination Space and activate this one.

Now in the new Coordination Space I only see the models that are in the Model coordination Folder.

When I activate one of the old Coordination Spaces, I saw that the deleted files are also gone. 🙂

The only thing is that I end up whit Coordination spaces that I can't delete.

It would be nice if you could reset the Coordination space so only the models that need to be coordinated will be in the model coordination environment.

Thank you for your reply and I am glade to hear that you were able to resolve this issue. I am sure it would be nice to reset the coordinate space so it will allow you to see only models that are only in model coordination environment. I am sure this will be in development road map item. I would highly recommend submitting this request to “BIM 360 IdeaStation” page on the BIM 360 community home page.  This will help the Project Manager and developers hear your voice on any changes/concerns with functionality directly for consideration in future builds.

Any updates for this issue? The workflow is broken if you have to create a new space every time you update a Revit model. The classic version of Glue allowed users to simply update their model in Glue. What I also noticed is I can delete the models from BIM 360 Document Management but the models still appear in Model Coordination. I assume what is happening is the models are being copied from DM to MC and there is no synchronization happening. If I am missing something, please let us know.

Six months passed since last comment - And I am still stuck with the same issues. 
What the is Dev team cooking? Any news on the update workflow? I am still detaching Revit Models renaming them to not get confused with Project Files models, initiate collaboration to my active workspace docs folder. Then what? 
Re do the same workflow b=nex time I need to run clashes ? (I am on a weekly coordination and clashes meeting with 25 firms on a large scale project. How do I manage all this chaos? 
Any help is more than welcome.

I would like to remove models from the Design Collaboration, but having the same issue. I have deleted them from the Shared folder and was hoping that this would reflect within the Project model space, however, the models are still appearing.

found a solution that works at least in combination with Plant3D, when you remove models from a Plant3D collaboration project and they still show in the model coordination.

the removed model in Plant3D got moved to a 'project recycle bin' - When I removed this file from there in BIM360 and checked back a while later: BIM360 realized that it the file gone and not a 3d model that needs to be listed in the model coordination space.

Answer to Question 1 – Removing models from Model Coordination

This is expected behavior in BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud.

Removing files from Document Management does not remove them from the Model Coordination list. Once a model has been added to Model Coordination, it stays there as a coordination model.

What you can do:

• Go to Model Coordination → Models

• Select the models you no longer need

• Use Remove from coordination (or exclude them from clash detection)

If you don’t remove them directly from Model Coordination, they’ll stay visible even if the source file is deleted or replaced in Docs.

Answer to Question 2 – File naming and versioning

Renaming Revit files for version tracking is not recommended for Design Coordination.

Best practice:

• Keep the same file name

• Upload new versions of the same model to the same folder

• Let BIM 360/ACC handle versioning internally

Why:

• Model Coordination tracks models by file identity, not just folder location

• Renaming files creates new models instead of new versions

• This is exactly why you’re seeing multiple old models in Model Coordination

If you need to know which version is linked in Revit:

• Use BIM 360 version history

• Or add version info in:

  • Revit project information

  • A shared parameter

  • Or publish notes / model description
