Desktop Connector Clean Uninstall Left the Program Broken

I ran these steps to uninstall Desktop Connector:

To resolve, perform a clean uninstall/reinstall of Desktop Connector.

  1. Uninstall the application via the Control Panel
  2. Once uninstalled, delete the following folders:
  • C:\Users\#USERNAME#\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Desktop Connector
  • C:\Users\#USERNAME#\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Web Services\DesktopConnector
  1. Then delete the following registry keys (be advised that it is recommend to first export out or save a copy of the current registry before deleting or modifying any keys):
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER>SOFTWARE>Autodesk>Autodesk Desktop Connector
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>Autodesk>Desktop Connector
  1. After the above items are removed, reboot the computer before reinstalling the application.

The reinstallation appears to have failed as there are no files in the Program Files folder and no icon appears in the hidden files tray. The computer is convinced the program is installed regardless of how many times I try to uninstall it. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Almost the same for me. I have files present but the Desktop Connector immediately crashes upon startup.

I had a similar situation happen to me on the latest version of ADC. Haven't heard any resolution. I get the same thing every time I try to install/run ADC- crash, error report, frustration.

This is happening to me too. I uninstalled it and it still starts up when I restart my computer.

I was able to get mine uninstalled with these steps from Autodesk support:

  1. Use the Microsoft Installation Troubleshooter (Fix It)
  2. Use Revo Uninstaller to completely remove all Desktop Connector registry keys.
  3. Reboot the Windows machine.
  4. Re-install the Desktop Connector 14 Desktop Connector Release Notes.

The new install still crashes on startup though, and will not run at all. Version 15_1_0_1587

I hope that Autodesk gets this sorted. We cannot be the only people that are having issues with this product.
Feels like they rolled out a bad update.

No idea what changed but mine is now working again. It seems to crash a lot in the beginning and then just randomly works. I didn't even remember re-starting it and all of a sudden it was there in the tray working. This crashing but eventually is also happening for a colleague.

I am getting the same issue, and I am unable to reinstate/reinstall the application or do the upgrade of the application as per the suggestion, Any word on a resolve for this issue?
