BIM 360 Plans section, Uploaded PDFs

We often upload PDF sets to the Plans section which are organized by milestone / issuance of a project.  These are for teams to review, comment, etc as the design progresses.  RFIs can also be tracked from these as well.

Most recently I've noticed that uploaded PDFs now have limited zoom in functionality, the drawing needs to go through a calibration every time one opens it, it does not save the calibration and the user can not snap to any of the elements on the page.

Please set the uploaded PDF capability back to where it was even just last fall where none of this was an issue.  Currently it is limiting our use-case on BIM 360 projects.

Hello Alice.Santman,

Thank you for contacting Autodesk.

Approximately, how long does it take each file to be ready to use?

Can you confirm the version of both the BIM 360 mobile app and the type of tablet hardware being used?

Do you notice any difference in accessing PDFs uploaded into the Plans folder in comparison to the Project Files folders?

Thanks,

Don

Hi,

We have exactly the same issues:

- The calibration or measure/draw tools does not snap to any line or point on the page.. Which is a huge issue..

- Calibration required every time and not saved.. Can this not be read from the titleblock/automatic?

- Also, uploading of PDF files using a titleblock sets the 'name' to be the same string as the OCR scanned 'number'. Rather than the file name, or a combination of the name and number.

Thanks,

Jamie

Hi Don -

uploading PDFs isn't a time issue - it uploads at the same rate as a Revit model being used to extract sheets.

Also - we are not using the mobile app nor a tablet (2-in-1) in this case, we are at our desk on a laptop and simply uploading a PDF set to be published to the Plans section.

We only load PDF sets to the Plans section - not the Project Files section as that is for models and sharing between teams for collaboration.

The issue is in not being able to zoom in past a certain point of a loaded PDF (Example of zoom extents attached)

And the user needs to ALWAYS calibrate the scale of the PDF and since it does not snap to objects on the PDF the calibration will not be accurate and it does not save the calibration with the PDF so each time a user goes back into the PDF, they need to calibrate again.

Hello JamesonGoring,

In regards to the calibration issue, were the documents in which this is appearing ever re-versioned?

Did the issue start appearing after the document had a new version added?

Development appears to be investigating an issue which sounds very similar to the issue reported in this post.

The OCR issue with the titleblock to me sounds like a different issue than the calibration issue. If this behavior is still occurring, please log a separate forum post. Support may also need to reach out to directly for a specific example of both the document and the title block being set.

Regards,
Don

Alice.Santman,

Thank you for this additional information. This really helps.

Are the documents in which this behavior is appearing, ones that have had a new version added?

Do you recall if the issue began appearing after a new version was added?

The description in your post seems to be very similar to an issue that is currently under investigation with development.

Thanks,

Don

Hi Alice.Santman,

I have pasted my previous response below. Is there any additional information to provide?

Assuming this is the same issue, development is working on improvements in this area. An exact release date of any potential fixes or improvements is not known at this time.

Regards,

Don
