Best way to capture as-built / as-constructed information

I'm wanting to use Field to capture as-constructed information.  My example is a concrete box,, made from precast concrete walls, columns, beams and roof panels.  These arrive on site with a unique code from the supplier, say ABCD.  I want to match these with the model, which has a different unique code, say 1234.  I want to capture the supplier's code, the date installed, plus some other data.  If I do this on a checklist, is there a way of linking that to the model, other than manually interrogating it and typing the code in?  If I do as an issue, I have to go into the model first, to add the pin, but the issue form doesn't let me enter the data I want.  A photo (on the issue) helps, as this could be taken of the code/delivery note of the product, then because it's an issue at least it's 'tagged' to the model element.  Ultimately I want to know that ABCD = 1234.  Maybe a markup is a better method?

Is there a better workflow I should be using for this sort of thing?
