How can i add or import 2 budgets (not Multiple budgets code to one contract option) and display it separately and give specific viewing permission to each (compare Project Budget vs Net Profit Budget).

Hi @Ahmed.Mok,

Could you please clarify your requirements?

"display it separately and give specific viewing permission to each (compare Project Budget vs Net Profit Budget)."
1. Which table are you referring to? Budget table? Contract table?

2. What's the meaning of "displaying it separately"? So far the users with View all, Full control, or Project admin permission can always view all Budgets on the Budget table.

3. "give specific viewing permission to each"
Do you mean user A can only view Budget B and user C can only view Budget D?

Thanks and best regards

@Jason_Kai_Jiang  let me ask it in a different ways

  • Have permission per budget item not the whole budget table (same as permission levels in Files)
  • Have multiple Budgets tab 1,2,3 (IMG below) lets say with a drop menu to circulate from, each with separate budge, contract, payment tables & permission levels

Hi @Ahmed.Mok,

Thanks for the clarification. Could you please provide more information so that I can log a new feature request?

1. What is your company's type? Owner, GC, Subcontractor?

2. Why does your project need to set up different view permissions on the Budgets? For example, do you want to hide the internal project member's payroll information on the Budget table for different Cost users?

Thanks and best regards,

This features are requested from more than General Contractor mainly (middle east)

The main reasons for that:

  • Separate the budget shared with Owner and budget shared with downstream.
  • Hide specific Budget items from internal members (only Managers level)

Hi @Ahmed.Mok,

Thanks a lot for the timely reply.

I agree with the main reason 2 ("Hide specific Budget items from internal members (only Managers level)"). However, I do not understand the main reason 1 (Separate the budget shared with Owner and budget shared with downstream.).
Usually, there are three types of Budgets:

Budget Type 1: budget-only, such as fee and markups -- shared with Owner.
Budget Type 2: budgets for self-performed work -- shared with Owner and can be tracked by internal Contracts.

Budget Type 3: budgets for subcontracts -- shared with Owner and downstream.
Do you want to assign different permissions for the above three types Budgets to different Cost users?

Thanks and best regards,

Hi @Jason_Kai_Jiang , thanks you for the instant feedback 🙂

yes you are right for the budget types. However, some contractors want to study specific information sometimes for financial impact, for example:

  • The project estimated budget is the selling price for each budget item with specific amounts (what was agreed on)
    • Fees = X, Markup = Y
  • The budget they will be working with the downstream will have different amount for each budget item (More profit)
    • Fees = X-2, Markup = Y+2

so for the whole budget items, they want to compare the (estimated budget vs actual budget) for profitability. and for sure with different permissions to different cost users.

Hello, are there any updates on this issue?
We would also need two budgets, one for the client, subcontractors in the entire project, and the second, not visible to the client, where we can manage our own subcontractors.

@AnaCMP
All budgets should not be visible to the client and subcontractors. Budget table should only be visible by your own company's cost users.

You can invite your client to view Main Contract table with collaborative access permission.

Thanks.
