Units of Objects

Units of Objects

This was a post from @mmaloneyVHABU on the forums and not sure if it was answered but I have the same issue.

When I pick on Objects in Docs Screens, All of my Units Measurements are in Decimal Format....i.e., 4.0953226'.....

What are the chances of either:

A.  Having the Options of Setting Units in the Cloud to Arch...(4'-3")

B.  Automatically Converting to Arch units when Files are pushed

C.  Actually Using the Units within the the Models that are pushed to the Cloud....i.e., When upload an Arch Model that is using Arch Units (ft & inches...The Units stay the same....ft & inches)

Hi @gabeavila ,

Object properties should actually have the same model units as you see in the authoring application.
If you ran into an issue where this isn't the case, could you please share a sample model (or invite me to the project), so that we can have development team investigate?

Thanks,

Outside America we don't want to see the objects in the imperial system but in the metric system!

  1. Apparently for all the native Autodesk files, this is not an issue. If the model is set-up in the metric system, for example a Revit file, then we will see all the units of the objects in mm (metric) when we publish the model to BIM 360 Docs.
  2. But for all the IFC-files, even for the ones that comes from Autodesk software (for example Revit), the units of the objects are always in feet (imperial)! This is an issue!

Is it possible to add an extra setting to the project settings on BIM 360 where you can choose the units (imperial or metric) for the whole project?

pieter.vandeweerd, yes, this one is really big problem - at the moment it makes that IFC support for us almost useless.  😕

Hi @pieter.vandeweerd

I can confirm that we have the same problem here, but this time is an NWD file.

I am 100% sure that the units in the native files (Revit and Navis) are correct, but then we get imperial units when we upload to BIM 360.

It seems that is not an exclusive problem of IFC.

@doreen.dvoretz  Could you please give us an update on this? The issue has been around for a long time, but there is no clear answer or directions from Autodesk regarding this behaviour.

Thanks

Same problem here, in the browse the units are in metric system, but in our mobile devices the units are in imperial system and we need to change it to metric every time we need to check a measure.

I have tested it in revit files with metric system.

Thanks.
