If you would like to use "Save as Cloud Model" or "Collaborate with BIM360 Design" and you regularly receive updated Revit models from an outside source, the only way to keep the version tracking is to upload. It would be nice if I could save over the already existing model and have the version increment. Currently, when using "Save as Cloud Model" or "Collaborate with BIM360 Design" Revit will not let you save over if a Revit file with the same name exists. 

Another use case for this problem is if you are having unforeseen software glitches or struggles with opening the cloud hosted model but have local copy or are able to download the latest published model, it would be nice to save over and keep version tracking intact.

Exactly!  I just started using BIM 360 and couldn't believe it when it wouldn't let me overwrite and existing model with a new one.

In our case, we have a project where our consultant is not using BIM 360.  When we receive an updated model from them I want to be able to either save it to the cloud with the same name and have it overwrite or be able to select the existing file in Document Management and have an option to replace it with a new upload.

Autodesk, if you need an example of how this should work, look at Bluebeam Studio.

Any updates on this overwriting issue?  I have the same problem.  If I rename the file it forces all the consultants to re-link my model and that in it's self could cause many issues....  Please let me know if anyone has a work around or fix to overwirte existing model on BIM360...

Is Autodesk Docs the answer to the above? kind of drag and drop the file there?

Autodesk offers these solutions:

1. Move/Rename the current cloud model and upload the new one with the original name. This does not overrride the model, hence it cannot be compared.

2. Upload the model by just dragging it to the folder and you wont have issues overritting and generating new versions for comparing. Then when you need to link these models you'd need to use Autodesk Desktop Connector. This has been working for us OK.
