Move Multiple Folders

Move Multiple Folders

I would like to be able to move multiple folders at one time.  Currently, I can only move one folder at a time.  I can move multiple documents at one time, but if a folder is selected within the group of documents, then it does not allow me to move everything.

Hello, I support the above mentioned request. I would be very useful to be able to move multiple folders at one time.

This is a must have.  I am going to spend multiple hours/days moving folders as we create an updated approach to how we have BIM360 set up.  I really could not believe that this wasn't already a feature.

We have about 300+ projects that we need to move to a different folder and there is no way of doing it. This is unreal.

Agreed... Unreal.  How can you be able to move 1 folder but not select multiple folders to move.  Can't do it on the web can't do it with the Desktop Connector.  How long has the world been dragging/dropping, cutting/pasting?  Hard to believe this isn't possible.  Like the air we breath this is a basic functionality that is required to operate.  I am going to have to move about 100 folders, one at at a time...  Every time being told that "the folder will inherit permissions...", having to click continue, scroll around to find the other location I need to move the folder to and then click Move?!  So that's ~5 clicks per folder move, so 500 clicks plus scrolling to move 100 folders.  Where should I send my Neurologist's bill for the carpal tunnel surgery?

Ridiculous...

Agreed! it would be great to have functionality to move multiple folder and his content via the "Move" functionality.

How is this not a functionality of the system already? Moving multiple folders can be done in every single CDE, even Sharepoint. Please remedy this asap.

This is crazy- it doesn't work if you have a big folder structure and then run into the Microsoft 255 character limit you are screwed!

having to create folders then upload manually for a tender submission - not good autodesk!

It is a shame that Autodesk is ignoring this topic for more than 2 years....

It's a basic action that need to be done manually loosing really a lot of time. Unacceptable

@penny_yu ...  Any updates?  Now that it's the "future" is this still under "consideration" as you noted in mid-2020?

It is annoying that Autodesk haven't moved on this issue, but there is a workaround which is to use the Desktop Connector.  Then you move and organize folders and files in Windows File Explorer, including moving multiple folders at once.

That's a really basic feature! It's quite important to improve the product.

Almost 3 years from the original request 😒

I doubt there is even a timeline to get to this feature.  One of a few things that make this a disappointing product.

Commenting on this another MONTH later... AUTODESK can you REPLY please? I would HIGHLY suggest this issue be addressed because I think about everyone in this thread can easily find another cloud solution. Not that Autodesk cares, they have other products they have bought and failed at their attempt to make usable. Take notes from ONEDRIVE AUTODESK. I am starting to think Autodesk is just one big marketing department...

I know many folks are still struggling with this issue (myself included), however I would suggest investigating the Autodesk Replication tools for the cloud services that we helped develop. Might be a decent alternative in the interim. Note: It's Invite Only at this time.

AUTODESK REPLICATION TOOL FOR DOCS

Bennett, while I appreciate the suggestion, this "invite-only" tool is not applicable. I believe the OP and others are asking to move multiple folders within a project in BIM360, not project migration between ACC and BIM360. This does not help those who RELY on Autodesk software. Firms that pay large sums of money for licenses to use Autodesk services. Instead of developing new software, Autodesk needs to fix what they have already implemented. Three YEARS unaddressed for such a simple function is INEXCUSABLE for a large software company with so much industry presence. Also, I just had a conversation with my coworker about this among other frustrations and loss of files (intellectual property, mind you) due to syncing and moving/copying glitches in Desktop Connector. I have never had this issue with OneDrive. BIM360 has great potential, but Autodesk deliberately neglecting issues like this leaves a lot of bad tastes...

Hi @kblosserLTCUJ I agree 100%. I'm just always in the mindset of looking for workarounds or add-ons to improve my workflows with Autodesk software. It's mindblowing that an obvious quality of life improvement has gone unnoticed for this long.

Still not fixed. Need to address. We are managing 85 building in 1 project and each sub folder has to be created individually and each folder has to be moved at once.

Any news on this feature? Its 2024...
