Please change the default setting of Markups to 'Public' instead of 'Private'.
We have had a few cases where this setting has been missed by Site Management teams, so they have saved the Markup and are under the impression that the rest of the project team can see their comments.
Same issue - Autodesk please fix this! Markups should be public by default. Whats the point of having it default to private?? Isn't the whole point of BIM to make it easier to review and collaborate on documents?
I will add my support for adding the option of changing the default or at least notifying users/admin that there are private comments before sending plans through the review workflow.
For what its worth, I'm on the fence on this one. Simply setting all markups to public might be ok on a small project with a limited number of users creating a small number of markups but you can imagine the issues this would cause at a much bigger scale. Markups don't have any naming or other titles, status is limited to active or archived, no assignments or notifications can be applied. As such, a project with 100's of users could potentially create 1000's of markups with no productive methods to work with them. In fact, when you look at what they are and what they 'should' be they begin to look more like 'Issues with Markups'. Perhaps this is what we should be requesting i.e. the ability to add markups to Issues. I know we can add an image of a markup to an Issue (screen grab only - no brilliant) but wouldn't it be better to be able to have a traceable workflow, complete with in-model markups, tags, linked content etc?
Can we please allow "View + Download + Upload" permission to publish there mark-Ups?....We don't want user who are reviewers to also have access to create folder etc.
It's been over 3 years since this issue was brought to light. It is truly affecting our efficiency. Please make this change @joan_allen, @Anonymous, @lauren.tracy
The ability to set our own default, "private" or "public" would be nice, but setting the mark-up tool to "public" as a global default would be helpful too.
What is the status on this topic besides "Under Review"? Private comments seem useless and we just discovered not all markups were published before returning drawings to vendor (commenter was out of the country on vacation when documents were returned to vendor).
I am requesting the change as well. We are trying to move away from Bluebeam sessions since they quickly become 'Dead Data'. But hard to convince the team BIM360 is better when some of the features are still not 'intuitive' and easier.
It's been a very long time and still no improvement? We will have to stick with Bluebeam for reviews and markups. All that's really and very sorely needed is the option to change the default in the Markup settings.
