Construction Cloud Activity Log API or UI

Construction Cloud Activity Log API or UI

Since its inception, BIM360 used to have an activity log in the admin panel as well as on the project in Docs. Now that we have moved to Autodesk Construction Cloud it is unavailable. Moreover, it is unavailable/not exposed via the APIs. Please, as a matter of urgency, expose the API for the user/project activity log and then think about adding it to the UI at least for admins.

In the ACC Plattform you can now only view the activity for a single file. means if i have 2000 files, i have to look at every single file.

That’s data silos!
In the ACC filtering for activity has been added, but it is very important that the project admin has an overview of everything that has happened in the project. Just like it was already possible in BIM360! But now with the filtering which is available on the ACC platform and an export, as on BIM360 before.

Many customers have reported this problem to us and unfortunately the function has been lost!

Why would they not carry over the same type of view activity page that is used in BIM 360 to Autodesk Construction Cloud? Currently you have to select each file to view its activity log. Seems very inefficient compared to BIM 360 ability to view the activity.

As a company, using BIM 360 successfully for a number of years, we recently finally decided to start setting up our new projects in ACC to explore what we thought would be a better version of the existing BIM 360 platform. The discovery of the loss of ability to view the Activity log has been very disappointing. In BIM 360 it is hugely important for us to be able to see the activity logs for both our internal users and our external users when they are given access to our projects. It is of such concern that we are now considering reverting back to setting up our projects in BIM 360 and to hold off from working in ACC until the logs become available. I can only encourage Autodesk to make this a priority fix to provide the Activity logs in ACC. To my mind it really makes no sense to not include such a necessary & helpful tool.

I have the same problem. I migrated from BIM 360 to ACC believing that the new platform offers at least the same facilities, if not even more, but I was wrong.

Activity Data for ACC is now available in Data Connector.  This was included in the March 2023 release:

https://constructionblog.autodesk.com/new-in-autodesk-construction-cloud-50-of-the-latest-product-re...

Data Connector | Activity Data (Public Beta) – Now available in the Data Connector API, members can access Activities as a new data schema, providing activity data on their Docs-specific workflows, as well as Issues, Account Administration, and Project Administration.

Thank you for the feedback!

Joan Allen

Hello Joan, thank you for the info provided in your reply. I have tried using the Data Connector to get to the activity logs but I did not manage to get the information I needed. I don't think it will provide me with access to the "live" logs. If I may go back to the original query posted here, I believe it asks, in ACC how do we now perform the following two admin duties as they currently work in BIM 360, and if this same information can be made accessible in ACC as it is in BIM 360:-

In BIM 360, to view the Activity Log in the Admin Account - it requires just 3 mouse clicks:-

1. Click on “Account Admin” (in the dropdown)

2. Click on “Settings” tab (that displays at the top)

3. Click on “Admin Activities” (that displays as a new option near the top)

Result = “Activity Log – The Admin Activity Log lists all administrative actions taken within Account Admin and Project Admin, with the exception of service configuration actions”

In BIM 360, to view Activity Log on Docs within a specific project – it requires just 3 mouse clicks:-

1. Click on “Project Admin” (in the dropdown)

2. Click on ”Services” tab (that displays at the top)

3. Click on “Document Management” (that displays in the left-hand side pane)

Result = Full log of all Docs activity by all project members

The two features described above are very helpful for me to be able to perform my duties as the Account Admin and especially as the supporting Project Admin across all our projects. On our BIM 360 projects I can easily perform the support role with full insight into the Docs activity. I believe now though that in ACC I am unable to get the same level of insight into the docs activity resulting in a diminished support capability.

My wish would be that this exact same activity information can be made available in ACC as easily and as clearly as it currently is in BIM 360. I hope all of the above has made sense. Thanks

Dear Ms. Joan,

If Autodesk intends to replace the BIM 360 platform with the ACC platform, as I understood and I think I am not the only one, it is natural that before launching the ACC platform, all the facilities accepted by users from BIM 360 should be implemented here, or until they are implemented, some links to BIM 360 should be added as they already exist for the management of Roles for example. Why do we have to propose again the implementation of ideas in ACC that were already accepted in BIM 360 and were also useful?
Thanks.
