Per conversation with James Bryant (Support):
From customer perspective it could be beneficial if when we filter the Equipment log by a particular type then we create a new record using that filter then the default value that populates on new record should be based on that search parameter. This could be beneficial when creating many new records which need to be automatically associated to location, type, or whatever search parameters you enter.
