BIM 360 Enterprise - Ability to add companies to projects without adding users

Product: BIM 360 Enterprise

Where: Project Services

What: Ability to add companies to projects without adding users

Issue: The user would like to be able to add companies to projects without adding users, so he can keep a record of how which companies worked with them on a project, even if they did not work with them using any BIM products.

Making the companies area more of a company directory.

I agree with this user, since within BIM 360 Docs there is no Project Template to create and set up multiple projects the same way.  What I have been doing to get around this so that the creation of the project is not the hold up when a number of projects need to be created, is to create a project add myself as the project admin. Then I open up the Project Admin page to add users, modify my company to be all of the companies that I wish for the projects to have on default.  This then allows me to set-up the permissions of the companies before adding any of the users from the companies.

This is a work around method that would be completely unnecessary if we had a Project Template system to initially set up projects.  But even in the meantime, and after project templates are available, this would greatly reduce the amount of redundant work needed to set up projects.

Thanks

it would indeed be a lot safer to define permission rights to companies BEFORE assigning them with individual users so as to make sure project permission structure remains safe.

This is even more true when migrating projects from BUZZSAW to BIM.

Thanks!

Tip: add the companies one by one to your own active account. Those companies becomes available and will have 0 users, but you can use them to assign issues.

It's a workaround and not a solution!! This still needs to be fixed, but in the meantime you can continu
