With the new Asset Tracking having been recently released, the ability to create an Issue while viewing a tracked asset is not great.
Here's the steps on how it currently works:
- Open a Build Sheet that has a tracked Asset.
- Show the Asset Markups, select the Asset to open it's detail panel, and go to the References.
- Add an Issue reference.
- Select Create to add a new Issue.
It's at this step that I feel it should be asking where on the already open Sheet we would like to place a Pin. - Instead, we're forced to use the Placement attribute to select a Sheet.
This step is problematic in that it now asks to select a Sheet to place a Pin, rather than dropping back to the already open Sheet that we started from. - So we continue by selecting the same sheet we have open, to then place the issue pin.
- After following the final steps we end up back at the originating Sheet.
Now the issue creation process is finished, there's a couple of final observations.
- Any Issue Pins that are referenced by a tracked Asset are not visible in the Asset Markups view.
So other than hiding the Asset Markups, how does the user know what Issues have been created? - Hiding the Asset Markups will show all previously placed Issue Pins, but not the one that was just created. On the desktop, you have to perform a browser refresh to get it to show.
The new functionality is very much welcomed. But the way it has been developed feels unfinished, convoluted, and lacking some general reliability.
It would be good if these could be improved sooner than later.
