Any way to prevent Markups folders from collapsing when creating folders?

The folder tree in the Markups dialog completely collapses as each new sub-folder is added.  Is there any way to avoid expanding the folder tree to add new folders?

Thank you,

Hi @USJM05000,

Thank you for participating in our community and great feedback! I am sorry but this is an this is an enhancement request and If you have any feedback that you would like to submit regarding any enhancement, please click on the “BIM 360 IdeaStation” link on the BIM 360 community home page.  This will help the Project Manager and developers hear your voice on any changes/concerns with functionality directly for consideration in future builds.

Thank you and have a great day!

Thank you for taking time to respond.  However, I'm not convinced about this being an "enhancement request".

Does that mean that it was intentional and acceptable to have the entire folder tree collapse every time a sub-folder is created, or should the BIM 360 Ideastation be though of as a nice name for the preferred place to report problems with the software?

Thanks in advance for any insight regarding issue reporting.

Kind regards,

Hi @USJM05000,

You are absolutely right - the feature does not have the best experience and isn't as you or I would expect, especially when creating multiple sub folders. I think where our support team were coming from is that the feature has always worked this way (to my knowledge), and isn't therefore a regression (a bug introduced following a change) - this therefore goes into triage and is weighed along with other identified problems, and unfortunately this falls onto the low priority list which is unlikely to have resources assigned.

As you may know, Glue was an acquisition, and since then many features and embedded technology have been enhanced and upgraded - this I'm afraid is one area that hasn't received such an update.

Whilst we continue to build out Model Coordination alongside Document Management - these will effectively form the next-generation of Glue, and these are being designed and implemented from scratch (both front and back end), and incorporate feedback we've received from Glue - we prioritize high priority bug fixes, security and system maintenance to ensure the classic products continue to perform as they do. Whilst this likely isn't the answer you were looking for, I do hope it helps explain where we're coming from. User efficiency is important to us, and I assure you we are thinking about this as we build out Model Coordination, where we are trying to automate more tasks, for example clash identification, and make simpler interfaces, whilst retaining the power associated with, say Navisworks. We have a little way to go until first [non Preview] release, but we hope to have this ready for you soon to start benefiting from.

Best regards,
Paul
