How to Link QR codes to 3D model

Hi I have a similar issue, i wanted to create a view in a room using bim360 glue, then take that URL and create a QR Code, paste this on my drawing, then use a qr scanner to open the view. Problem is it won't open glue from when scanning the code i get the message, "BIM 360 Glue Mobile is currently unavailable on this platform. I have the A360 app on my phone but it doesn't work.

I did create a render and took the QR Code from the myrenderings gallery but the problem with this is that it is slow to create the renders and it also has to be updated everytime a change is made.

Any thoughts anyone.

Thanks

Rob

Hello Rob,

I see your post concerning working with QR codes and views within BIM 360 Glue has been posted to the BIM 360 Field forum.

Are you ultimately looking to use the QR code values anywhere within BIM 360 Field? Please confirm.

Thanks,

Don

Hi

We want a render basically which we can create a qr code for, to show a 3d view of a specific room/area. We have had fiurther thoughts on this and think wise to create it once the drawing goes to construction at C01. We would then need to create another QR code should anything change, ie C02 etc. Just wondered if anyone had a quick way of doing this. We have created a dummy room and rendered in the cloud option through revit.

Thanks

Rob

Hello Rob,

It is not currently possible to embed a QR code to a specific view either within Glue or Field.

Within Field, you could associate a barcode or QR code value to an equipment record. Within the Field mobile application, there is an embedded barcode reader. If you scanned the barcode, this would open the equipment record attached to that record within the mobile application.

If the equipment record was originally created by sharing a model from Glue into Field and a mapped set within that model, a Show in Model button would also appear within the equipment record window. When using the mobile app, you could tap this button and be brought directly to the position in the model from which the record originated.

Please let me know if you have additional questions. This class from Autodesk University 2017 may also help to give you a bit more background in regards to Field-Glue model integration referenced above: CS123123: Lifecycle BIM: Integrating Navisworks, Revit, BIM 360 Field, and BIM 360 Glue, and FM Soft....

Regards,

Don

I was able to link a qr code to a room in B360 Field.

What you need is a unique "placeholder" that resides in every room.

I previously created a stake with 3d room text and used that so I knew which room I was in by reading the text.

Then create an equipment set in glue of that placeholder.

Then once the equipment is created and mapped you can link it to a barcode so once the qr code is scanned thru the field app you can go "show in model" and it will bring you straight to that place in the model.

Hope this helps.

Sean
