Would like an "Update Equipment" API for Field

We would like to be able to update only certain fields on a piece of equipment using the API, but this is currently not possible. What one must do now is upload values for all of the fields, otherwise if a field is not in the upload parameters JSON, the existing value gets removed.

There should be an update_element API method that takes the equipment_id and a JSON string that has only those field:value pairs that are to be changed. It should also be possible to set values for specific custom fields in the same call.

I have spoken with the Field Engineers and I have submitted the enhancement request CS-27329 API: Update_Element API method for Equipment. 

Please keep this number for your records in order to request an update status in the future. Also understand that the request needs to be prioritized against all other requests with different priority.
