guuuuuuys =((

trying for hrs to cache a (animated) hurricane_noise field.... basically changed nothing to the imported field from bifrost browser....

but Maya wont allow me to cache the animation with file_cache node.

it overrites the the file while simulating over and over... at the end i got only one cached file named filename.0000.bob

named it exactly as mentioned in the comments like filename.####.ext or filename.####.bob

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat do i miss =((((

Can you elaborate a little bit more, maybe show a screenshot or something. If I open then hurricane_noise field graph, its not animated by default. Which you mentioned you are animating. In the file cache node, do you have the start and last frame correctly type? Do you have the "active frame range" on?
Did you change the mode to "write mode"? the default is to read.

heyyy thanks for your fast reply!

I animated the Flowline_length_in_sec  input from node vector_field_scope node, so that the strands would grow over time

Also I animated the time  input from fractal_noise_field node, so that there would be a soft change in movement over time - and THIS somehow was the issue. as soon as i plug in an input-node into the time-slot (to set keyframes in attribute editor of flatHurricaneNoise shape) file_cache node doesnt work as expected anymore but overrites the the file while simulating. Even when i delete the input-node and keyframes it doesnt work anymore.

but first animation mentioned worked fine with file_cache node... its just that time-input that causes issues.

to get my desired movement i found a workaround in the meantime but im still interested about solving the initial problem ...

so if anyone knows anything ... ? id appreciate tips and tricks 🙂
