My company needs to submit drawings to client in Russian. Any suggestions?
We've just taken on a large project and were told our drawings will need to be submitted in Russian. I'd appreciate any advice or suggestions on how to move forward in working on this project. No drawings have been created yet. We currently run Autocad 2010 Mechanical and Electrical software.
I can think of a couple questions for now:
1. Can Autocad ( Maybe Language Packs ) do this for us or will we need additional software?
2. Without knowing how a language conversion will work I'm unsure how we will work on the drawings if they read Russian; I'm assuming the conversinon will be completed as we turn in a 50% design and 100% design?
You will need to hire staff fluent in 'Russian' and your industry in
'Russia" to work on the project. My guess is this is your first endeavor in
International work, it's the little dirty secret no one mentions.
There is no software that will do the work for you: well, not one that will
get you paid for the outcome anyway.

If not staff at least consultants who are familiar with the jargon of you're particular discipline. My Sister-in-law is an expert in Russian but couldn't do this type of work because she wouldn't be familiar with the terms.
I don't know what discipline you're working in. But if I specified a leach field and ran it through translation software I would probably get something about an area of salt brine or ash. A knowledgeable human is a must in any technical translation.

Hi,
The quickest solution IMO would be to have a person in the team who knows
CAD
well and speaks both languages (on a technical level not just the social
one, that's it) too. Is there a problem with finding one?
Igor.

Thanks for the replies everyone! We might have an internal Russian Translator / cad person. I'm open to any suggestions in the case our person does not work out. Thanks, Shane
