Interactive CAD/Customer Portal

Anonymous

My company is looking to create a customer portal within our website where our customers can login and see an interactive CAD one line of their electrical distribution system. We want them to be able to scroll, click & view different pieces of equipment within their electrical system and see photos, test sheets, data sheets, etc. for that specific piece of equipment but. We want them to view only NOT edit.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

Please get back to me with any ideas.

Thanks,

JB

You are describing customers accessing an online interactive UI enabled webpage with seemless intuitive links to other documents for the most part, and need the services of a web design team, not a CAD system that runs online.

What's your role at the company JB?

I agree with @pendean it sounds like your company may be best served by getting in touch with a web developer.

Another route you could explore would be using Bluebeam's "Studio Sessions". You could create a session containing PDF's of the drawings as well as PDF's of your data sheets and photos. You could then add links to the drawings that point to the corresponding reference materials. In Studio Sessions, you can invite others (your client) via email to view or collaborate on the session. You can actually do live mark-ups and others in the session can see it immediately. And you can schedule the session to expire after a certain point in time or to never expire. We've done stuff like this with our clients in the past and it worked well.

Some building management systems can do exactly what you want.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

It's absolutely possible, the only question is at what price. It seems like you need a team of developers and designers to make such a portal. Before hiring a team you have to decide what functionality you want in your portal. Check out this , it is about your case - creating a customer portal for a business.

CAD has been an abbreviation of computer-aided drafting that is used to design objects in a number of different fields. While the term CAD has been around for such a long time, it has created some misunderstandings with the word "drafts" when it comes to the people who use and design with CAD. Just because CAD stands for Computer Aided Drafting doesn't mean that it's a replacement for actual drafting. client portal software  is meant to make the process of designing something and communicating with clients, contractors, and colleagues much more efficient.

Did you read the OP? It's not about drafting.

Hello @Anonymous

Product Limitations

DWG TrueView is limited to viewing, publishing, and converting DWGs. You cannot use it to change or save drawing files.
