Disk Manager shareware

I have a little computer that the disk is sized unproportionally. I
don't want to wipe out the contents to put 6 gigs of unallocated space to
the C's 2 gig.

I understand that Partition Magic is a preferred product to resize drives,
but can not locate a shareware version.

I am willing to use about anything, since this is just an intern's "dragged
out the closet" computer.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks

At only $70 for PM, I am not sure it is worth trusting shareware when all
your data is at stake. Another option would be to get a new hard drive (40G
is pretty cheap, and about the smallest you can find without going to Ebay
or something) and install that as the c: with a new OS install, then install
the old drive as the D:, E: etc, and pull everything over to the new C:.
Than again, maybe someone can suggest a really solid shareware repartition
tool that can be trusted.

Best,
Gordon

Can you just create a partition in the unallocated space using FDISK and
create D:\ Drive that is about 6 gig. You should be able to do this using
FDISK as long as C:\ is NTFS file system.

Very good, Yuri, that did the trick. I threw caution into the wind and
didn't even backup. It worked just fine. A little archaic in it's
appearance, but a fine tool--thanks.

There wasn't much to lose, just the OS and a few programs that had been
installed. Oh, there were 6 emails and an address book--but those were on
the server-so I guess I backed up a little. I just hated to start over for
a simple disc management procedure on a sub-par machine for an intern.

I have to manage my time in a manner that requires multiple considerations;
I chose to take a small risk. It is simple economics, don't sweat it, Dean.
