Desktop Syncing

Copied a couple folders into the Drive ...Able to access files from drive. HOwever, changes are not syncing to original files on desktop. I have read and re-read the how to's and user guides...is this not something that happens? Do i have to export files back to my desktop from the Drive each time after I have made changes?

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction and this scenario is possible and I am just going about something wrong.

If I make changes to a file at home i would like it not only to sync to the Drive but to the file in the original folder as well on my work desktop...

There is no link between the original files/folders and those on the Drive. The "sync" of Drive is between its cloud storage and its cached copy on your local drive.

If you are using a Windows machine, using Desktop Connector will allow you to sync your local data with your Autodesk Drive data.

Thank you. I have that installed; it says synced but, the files are different between the drive and what is on my local drive...I am having to delete and copy from the cloud to my local dive and vice versa to update...

Is it possible for you to share a recording of what you are doing and seeing?

Sure. Hopefully, this is what you were looking for...I don't have audio, I'm also hoping that you will be able to decipher what I am trying to show...

I believe you are doing everything correct until you get to the 1:40 mark where you open the file from the Desktop location instead of the windows explorer Autodesk Drive location. Since you opened the file from "the Desktop" the result you see is correct as you did not save any changes to the desktop location, you saved those changes to the cloud. Once you drag and drop the file into Drive using Desktop Connector you should always open and save to that location. (stop using the original version where you did the drag and drop)

You saved the changes to the cloud location that is why it shows as modified, eventually it would say synced once the upload task completed. You can tell a job is processing if you look at the Desktop Connector Tray icon, it would show a green dot that its processing the job.

If you go to windows explorer (1:40 mark) and open the file from there you should see the changes.

I think Jason expects that his files in the original location would be synced with the files in the Autodesk Drive. I don't think that is how Autodesk Drive works. All the synchronization with Autodesk Drive is between its local (cached) files and its cloud files.

Jason: pCloud is one of very few cloud services does the syncs you look for.
