I bought Autocad R12  in 1972 From Patton & Patton Associates . It was a

student version  Windows 3.1, Version c4 and the Autocad release 12,  serial number  xxx-xxxxxxxx    Part No. 00104-051403-9054 .. and when I asked Autocad to for an upgrade.. they could not find my account.

ok and?

autodesk stopped doing upgrades several years ago & so your old license isn’t worth anything anyway

you will need to buy new licenses & also they have moved away from perpetual licensing & now only offer subscription licenses where you are renting the software

If you still qualify for a student (educational) license today, you can get that at no cost. Go to http://students.autodesk.com
