I've used Eagle up through version 7.xx since the 1980's, and it has always worked fine.
I also use ALTIUM and it works fine . . . actually better . . .
But I thought I would try the Eagle 9.1.3 upgrade before I buy it, to see if they can compete.
So I downloaded the 'free' version and saw that there were many changes made to it including 3D modeling.
But to save (learning) time, I decided to go back to my version 7.xx
But when I did, I found that loading 9.xx screwed up my 7.xx libraries, and now, 7.xx does not want to recognize anything 9.xx touched.
So I called Autodesk and they told me that 9.xx is processing . . . It's been over 45 minutes now, and I was told that it could take up to 24 hours before I can use it.
Had I known that, I would have never bought it!
So, tomorrow if it starts up as freeware, I'll be calling to get my money back . . .

Hi
We apologize for the inconvenience caused. May we know which OS you have? Is it correct that you were trying free version of Eagle 9.1.3 update? Has it finished processing?
We want to know more about the issue.
Regards,
Manu
Thanks Chuck. Please refer this to support.eagle@autodesk.com. With later versions we added stuff to the XML to support new objects and new data types. You can save v9 and later files as v7 from the File menu. We've added MUCH more since acquiring the SW and backwards compatibility is something we added as a File menu option for precisely this reason.
If you continue to have licensing issues, you can contact the support team for help. Posting to the forums is great but the fastest way to reach us is via the support teams.
Cheers,

Hi Chuck,
all the library files should be on your hard drive. EAGLE 9.1.3 uses different paths for files as the older versions do. Could you please check the path settings in the EAGLE 7.7 Control Panel, Options/directories menu for your library files?
For this version the library files are in $EAGLEDIR/lbr.
As soon as he path is set correctly you should be able to use them again.
Could you please check?
Best regards,
Hi chuckraskin1944,
Thank you for contacting Autodesk and your participation on the Autodesk Knowledge Network. We are really sorry for the inconvenience you have experienced. I hope to add comments to what Richard already mentioned. EAGLE v9.1.3 default path for edited files is $HOME\Documents\EAGLE folder. It is possible to change the path to the root path of the EAGLE v7 libraries. EAGLE v9 does add a lot more information to the file, therefore making it not compatible with version 9, but from the library editor you can click on File/Save copy for EAGLE v7.
From your message, it seems that you have purchased a subscription for EAGLE v9. Please visit your license entitlement page by login into your https://manage.autodesk.com/. Your EAGLE entitlement will appear listed after processing your order. You will notice that your EAGLE entitlement is active.
Please launch and login into EAGLE with the same Autodesk credentials you used to access your Autodesk License entitlement page. If EAGLE continues to load in FREE mode, go to the EAGLE control panel and click on down arrow next to your name and click on Sign Out.
After a few minutes, please click on the down arrow again and click on Sign In. This will force the local cache license to synchronize with the one on the entitlement page.
Please keep us informed.
Best Regards,
Edwin
