Hi everyone.

I have the error when I try to use the Autodesk Desktop App. When I open it I only see this screen:

loading screen - Copy.png

And that's all. Cannot download anything nor change any configuration.

Any solution?

Thank you all.

Regards.

Hello @cuen.saul

Please try to run through the following steps below to resolve this it seems have, blockage from a application running in the background or you may need to reinstall the app after conducting these steps.

  1. Reboot the computer & log in as Administrator
  2. Clean out the TEMP folder. To open the TEMP folder, type %TEMP% in the address bar of Windows Start Menu and hit Enter (Windows)
  3. Temporarily disable security settings like Antivirus, Firewall & UAC on your Windows operating system

Well, unfortunately, we cannot disable the antivirus, even temporarily, for obvious reasons.

If I cannot use a software due to the antivirus, I better not use it at all.

Thank you.

Anti-Virus software can interfere with the installation, nothing more. Once installed, you turn your A/V back on and continue on with your cadding needs as always.

No one stated A/V must be eternally turned off.

Good point.

I'll have to check with IT about it.

Thanks.

@cuen.saul, do you use Microsoft roaming user profiles? If yes, then this is the problem: Autodesk Desktop App doesn't work with roaming profiles.

Hi @zhukoven

Honestly, I don't know what that is.

This kind of topics are a little harsh for me because I'm structural engineer, and I used to buy a software, install it and use it haha.

Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out

Regards.

@zhukoven

I already checked my PC and some googling and looks like my profile is not Roaming User.

Thanks you.

@cuen.saul, this is when your appdata folder is in the network. If you open windows explorer, write down %appdata% and hit Enter, you'll see your appdata folder. In case of the local user profile, it will show you the path like "C:\users\your username\appdata\roaming\".

Roaming profile directs you to different location like "\\servername\profiles\your username\appdata\roaming".

Hi@cuen.saul,

Thanks for your feedback.

I think, this will occur when the auto desk desktop app is not able to connect to the server.

could you please check the service is running or not?

AdAppMgrSVC(start task manager)

Here is the screenshot.

if it is not running, please check the firewall or anything which is blocking the service.

i would like to know more about the issue, could you please share the log files?

Please find the attachment for log file instructions.

Regards,

Srinivas.

Hi@cuen.saul,

Thanks for your response and screenshots.

SO, in your machine there is no AdAppMgrSVC service is running. Some where  fire wall or other security things might blocking this service.

could you please check with your IT person why that service is not running? is there any way your company blocks the Autodesk desktop App?

Please send me the log files from this location %localappdata%\Autodesk\Autodesk Desktop App

Regards,

Srinivas.

Thank you @srinivasarao.potla

I'll see with IT if we can solve this problem, although we've been with this like six months haha trying this and that. If not, well, I think is affordable to forget about Desktop App altogether.

About the log, I tried to send you a private message. The thing is that I don't know how to attach a file here soooo.......

Anyway thank you all very much for the kind attention.

Best regards.

What URLs / Domains would need to be exempted for the service to run properly?

@mschofieldYXBZ7 The solution is to answer what was asked and to share what was asked: if you did not understand all three tasks then ask or websearch the answers; then try again with that Autodesk staffer (if they are even still around) with a direct message as instructed.

In the meantime... Stop using the non-functioning ADA tool for now, get your updates and software like everyone else through your Autodesk Accounts Page here https://manage.autodesk.com/home/

Enjoy the ride.

Found this from Auto desk help and worked for me.

Close all Autodesk Desktop App Services

Confirm that there are not multiple Autodesk Desktop App Services running at the same time:

  1. Press CTRL-SHIFT-ESC to open the Task Manager and view the "Processes" tab.
  2. End task on all "Autodesk Desktop App (32-bit)" services in the list.
  3. Run the Autodesk Desktop App again.

For anyone else stumbling across this... For me it was due to me accidentally disabling Autodesk services from starting. I did this as I normally do to "save" computer boot up time, but looks like AutoCad/Autodesk apps don't start the service when you do this

So, to fix, I had to login as an admin account, open Services (open start/search, type "Services"), then find anything that said "autodesk" and changed the startup type from "Disabled" to "Automatic (Delayed Start)". There were 3 services I had to do this to...

Then I signed out and signed back in, and everything worked again!
