AutoCAD Mechanical 2016 64-bit Service Pack 1 Update Will Not Disappear

First and foremost, we updated last year from 2016 to 2018 Design Suite.

I really only use Inventor 2018, but this silly ole AutoCAD update will not disappear even with the 2016 Design Suite being gone. Why could this be?

Should I just delete anything 2016 related in my Program Files folders (x86 included) and Temp folders where anything 2016 shows up? Is this a known bug? Are there recommended Windows/Kaspersky settings for making sure communication is consistent and correct between my machine and Autodesk?

Hi@janelson33,

Thanks for your feedback.

I thing you uninstalled design suite 2016 and somewhere the autocad mechanical 2016 app UPI2 value still left in the machine. so Autodesk desktop app shows the update.

could you please check the registry(HKLM/software/autodesk/upi2), if your machine may have this{7EEC743A-BA36-4137-9327-8AED1F8B29E6})UPI2 value?

Here is screenshot.

If you have this {7EEC743A-BA36-4137-9327-8AED1F8B29E6} UPI2 value in the registry, please delete it.

After deleting the UPI2 value from the registry, do a check now from Autodesk desktop. then it will disappear.

Please try this

Exit Autodesk desktop app(from system tray menu)
       Stop AdAppMgr Service(task manager)
%Programdata% > Autodesk > Delete the “SDS” folder
       Restart Autodesk desktop app.

I would like to know more about the issue. could you please share the log files with me?

Please find the attachment for log file instructions.

Regards,

Srinivas.

Ok, registry value deleted, log files created. What is your email? Or would you like me to just drop it here. I don't want any sensitive data being accessible to the public obviously.

Side Note: I still saw 2016 AppData in my local folder, is this normal after the design suite removal as well?

Hi@janelson33,

Thanks for your response. we appreciate it.

When you uninstalled the suite, at that time, somehow mechanical 2016 app UPI2 still in the registry. you said that, you deleted the UPI2 value, so the update should go away from Autodesk desktop app.

Please try this

Exit Autodesk desktop app(from system tray menu)
       Stop AdAppMgr Service(task manager)
%Programdata% > Autodesk > Delete the “SDS” folder
       Restart Autodesk desktop app.

if you still see the issue then send me the log files.

Please send me(srinivasarao.potla@autodesk.com) the log files.

Regards,

Srinivas.

For anyone else....ALWAYS make sure one is using the Autodesk Software Removal Tool that's located in the Start Menu's Program (Apps on Windows 8+) Folders, under the Autodesk Folder itself: This was great advice from @srinivasarao.potla! Thanks!
