Installation without Admin Rights Fails

We have an ongoing issue that prevents users from installing or updating any products.  Access seems to be blocking or hanging.  Our company doesnt allow users anything beyond basic user rights, so to allow installation of software, the user can run installers from a network share that will allow "elevated privileges" while installing, which works for past versions of Autodesk.  Now, when hosting the 2024 full-fat offline installers, when ran, a command window of "ProcessManager.exe" opens and hangs (same happens when using Access to update any application).  There is no errors and logs do not indicate anything failing.  We've tried running locally with temporary elevated permissions, same thing.  Completely removing Access seems to raise the chances of it working, but not to 100%.  Right now, using a deployment package seems to work for most users, but not all.  They get the command window or the installation gets to about 10% then reverses and errors.  Event viewer didnt seem to report anything meaningful.  Error below and log attached.

ACCESS requires admin rights.
ACCESS is not required. Ever. For any reason.
You don't ever need to install it.
Most organizations with log-in controls like you've stated never install it.

Interesting, please explain.  Access is being installed by the installation packaged (at least by the offline installers).  It doesnt seem like we have a choice if it gets installed.  This is confirmed by closing Access, uninstalling AdODIS and rebooting.  Then when user installs software package, the steps need to be repeated to install the next package.  Network deployments seem to bypass this.  I will say I havent tried the above steps with the deployment installer as it doesnt suffer from this issue.

The other group, how-ever, doesnt (or not?) seem to be an Access issue, but still fail when installing.  How-ever installing via admin account does work.

For the installation problem; I had a look at the log an googling 'error 4000' lists this article.

run installers from a network share that will allow "elevated privileges" while installing

How do you do that?

I guess you try to use Access for installing updates? As @pendean says - that don't work.

Hi David, did you get this issue sorted?

Also wanted to provide an update on admin rights to install updates.

A new Autodesk Access 2.6 feature gives admins the option to allow users to self-install updates, even without installation permissions. With these install permissions, admins can ensure that their users can access the most up-to-date software versions from within Autodesk Access. Enabling install permissions for their users allows these admins to reduce admin burden while still protecting network security. This feature only allows users to install updates from Autodesk Access, not from Autodesk Account downloads or other sources, and only for minor versions, not full annual releases.

You can download the latest Autodesk Access from here: https://www.autodesk.com/products/autodesk-access/overview

Was this feature removed? I haven't been able to find out how to allow non-admin users to self-install updates. I'm now on v2.12 (just updated).

EDIT:
Of course now I found it, sorry:

As an update to this - not all software that appears in Autodesk Access supports this tweak i.e. Structural Bridge design needs admin rights for install (Support Case 24285942)
