Show the current Graphical Style of a symbol in the Data Manager

With many graphical styles defined for any one symbol class, it becomes difficult to tell which style is in use without opening the drawing and selecting the symbol. Even when using the Symbol List property, the graphical style in use is still unknown. Please add "Graphical Style" as a property within the database for every class/node.

I just wrote a long comment and when I wanted to post it I got an error message and everything was gone.

So here I go again (Whitesnake).

Hi Craig,

I agree this would be helpful.

Having said this, you can accomplish getting the GraphicalStyleName when SelectionLists are used. You need PlantExpressTools and PlantLink which you both own.

What you need are the tables PnPPicklists and PnPPicklistValues from the ProcessPower.dcf.

First you need to concat a value with PlantExpressTools. For example:

concat("SSL&", [ClassName], "_", [PropertyName])

This leads to:

SSPL$Two_Way_Valves_Normally

With this value and PlantLink you can find the PnPID in the PnPPicklists table. With this PnPID and the value in your Property you can find the SymbolName in the PnPPicklistValues table.

Now that I think of it, we could have (in a future version) the class' attributes like GraphicalStyleName or TagFormatName and so on, available in PlantExpressTools' calculated properties. This way you could change the SymbolStyle or the TagFormat of a symbol. Of course that would mean we could implement this in PlantLink as well.

Hi,

unfortunately, even under the 2023 version, there is no possibility of use grahicalsytle as a property at database.

Maybe there is an other option as described above.
