Modify Knuckle Radius & Crown/Dish Radius in Plant3D
We would like the ability to modify the knuckle and crown radius of vessel heads via the P3D equipment creator. This would give us the ability to model any type head we want. Please see forum discussion in the link below.
These variable should have been “user input” from the very beginning. Tank heads are not “generic”. The type/shape is important and “fudging it in” can cause interferences
Having recently moved over from CADWorx I am disappointed this isn't possible in Plant 3D. The ability to change the crown radius and knuckle radius has been available in CADWorx for some time.
Recently moved to Plant 3D and I just came to model a vessel and was very surprised I could not alter crown and knuckle radius on vessel dishes. This to me is a massive draw back! Although I don't need millimetre perfect accuracy I do need my pipework to be modelled to a high level of accuracy and I therefore need my nozzles to be in the right location! CADWorx did this perfectly! Needs changing please!
Is there a reason we cannot amend the knuckle and crown radius on vessels? Very frustrating when trying to model vessels accurately - unusual to not have this feature included.
I agree with other comments. I either have a drawing that doesn't resemble reality, or have to create a custom piece of equipment that requires extra time & effort.
Not having accurate heads on the vessels was the root cause of a very costly interference for one of our projects. The heads were modeled using P3D shapes and ended up being several inches shorter than the ASME F&D heads. These vessels have a platform above them and during installation the platform structure hit the top head of the vessels. This needs to be fixed. Shouldn't be that difficult.
I'm sure anyone that has had to fight with this issue agree this needs to be addressed by Autodesk. If you have voted for this one, please also vote for this similar post as well to help get attention.
