I have very good idea how we can automate for making PI diagrams? If Autodesk have not investigate this yet I think this would be very good target to investigate 😉
If we think about making PI drawing, this is quite manually work. If we make totally new drawing I mean. For example totally new plant.
But I think why some learning algorithm could make some draft (only draft) PI diagrams or draw some PFD (process flow diagrams) diagrams too?
Algorithm could get some equipment list. In that equipment list there would be connections between equipments / flow directions / instruments in connections etc.
Algorithm could draw some draft/preliminary drawing for designer which designer might take for template and will continue from that template. Or designer could ask some of drafts/preliminary drawings and choose one of those drafts/preliminary drawings.
If this equipment list is too difficult to algorithm then algorithm could use process description for making drafts diagrams/preliminary drawings.
Some from our company have tested ChatGPT for making process description and this is quite good for now! 😮
Same idea for making drafts PI-diagrams/preliminary PI-diagrams which learn algorithm could make. Then we could save a lot of working hours!
