Cable trays and Instruments for Catalogs

Cable trays and Instruments for Catalogs

Plant3D need cable trays. It's possible to solve it adding in Catalog elements: rectangle dynamic pipes... I think that it's very easy work for Autodesk's developed team, and it will add much value for Plant3D.

Another category that is necessary to add in Catalog elements is "Instrument".

Cable trays and an instrument catalog is very important for p3d.

I hope we get very soon.

For Plant 3D Cable Tray catalogue see "maxdCableTray" at the Autodesk App Store.

There is a way to force instrument catalog in.

But I agree.. It would have saved me a load of time if I didn't have to make it manually.

You can give my python-based catalog a try, you can customize and create your own size tray-elements:

I wrote an article on how to create an Instrument Catalog as well as an Instrument Classification. You can find it here: http://www.hagerman.com/newsletters/article#/articleid/174/Autodesk-AutoCAD-Plant-3D-Creating-a-Cust...

As for MEP having Cable Tray, Conduit as well as Duct Work - personally I do not want to have to use a completely different piece of software to create these items when they should be in my opinion native to Plant and available to the same BOM's and Reports in Plant.

Hi everyone,

I am marking this as "Under Review", but you cleverly put two requests in this instead of one so I just want to clarify that it is the INSTRUMENTS for Catalogs that is under review, and not cable trays.

thanks,

-damian

Marking this as accepted - again, this only applies to the Instrumentation support in Catalogs.

This is all fine, but, actual integrated tray with all the functionallity of pipe would be awesome, using MEP is all well and good but having everything in 1 app for all 3d work required in a plant would be best.

I agree with Ender157 - MEP is insufficient for Plant Work. It's not in te QL Database for one thing, but more importantly when it comes to Duct work MEP does not have any ductwork that can be used in a Process Plant. MEP Ductwork is for HVAC Systems. Process Plant Ductwork is for carrying Flue Gas and other types of Extremely High Temperature Gas inside Rectangular Sheet Metal lined with Refractory Bricks. All we need is the ability to make Square or Rectangular Pipe and components in Plant 3D and we could create both the Ductwork and the Cable Trays as needed and then we would have no need for any other software at all.
