Many ways to do what you want. I suggest, hope itll work, set your ground eleveation first (eg. el +25000, el+ 1000, or just 0). Then you can always use the autocad command "ID" to know the elevation (or exact coordiante x,y,z) of your piping or component or pipe run. To be more precise, heres what i do, first, I identify the clients plant grade level (eg. EL+ 29500). then i create a polyline or rectangle and move it to the elevation required, extrude it to downward direction, then, you can use the "DI" command to measure the exact x,y,z of your piping to the x,y,z of the grade elevation, thanks
