Working a Plant 3D model into Inventor

Hello,

I'm working a large Plant 3D model. I was struggling to work with the dwg files because when I was import the dwg files as xrefs the files were so large that I wasn't able even to rotate the model. So, I used Navisworks in roder to cretae nwc files to reduce the file size. Then I imported the cordination models and now it is working much better. The thing is that there isn't any snap point. My aim is to cretae cable trays which will running through a big building (which including pipes, pumps etc) but I'm not able to  attach the cable tray for example onto an I beam. I thought to export a dwg model and importing it into Inventor, so I'll be able to create the cale trays more easy. However, when I import the dwg into Inventor there is no any 3D solid.

Do you work with AutoCAD Plant 3D 2023?

Before you can use the 3D model in Inventor it must first be converted to a solid model via EXPOTTOAUTOCAD.
Please do not forget to assign a new file name, because after the export there is no connection to Plant 3D.

I did an EXPORTTOAUTOCAD but when I importing it into InventorI have no 3D solids

OK, I would recommend an update to AutoCAD Plant 3D 2023 because the changed graphics interface means that even very large 3D models can be edited in Plant 3D.

For me, the Plant 3D model looks like this after EXPORTTOAUTOCAD in Inventor.

The thing is that i'm not able to have any solid from the dwg file which i am importing.I'm doing the EXPORTTOAUTOCAD and then import to Inventor but the only thing is shown is some lines.

Check your export file from Plant 3D if there are still blocks in this model. If so, these blocks need to be resolved to origin to reveal the solids.

In my case there are 2461 3D solids.

As I said before I have made nwc files and I have imported them as xrefs (specifically as cordination models). Maybe this is the reason I have this problem.

I also work with coordination models via XREF in AutoCAD Plant 3D.
I can't explain where your model boundaries come from.
Do you have all the necessary object enablers installed?

I have the AutoCAD Plant 3D object enabler only. Is that else?

Dear @h_eger ,

Should I have the native dwg files that I converted to nwc inside the project or not? Beause to me seems like thee aren't neccesary beause I importing the nwc files as xrefs.
